The architect beside an Ovata folding living wall

The Architect

Eunhye Jeon

Founder & Chief Maker

Eunhye Jeon is a landscape architect and the founder and chief maker of Ovata.

Her training taught her to think in space — not just what fills a room, but what a room needs to feel complete.

That understanding sharpened across years of work in big cities: San Francisco, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul. In each, she saw the same pattern - how a patch of green changes the way people move through a space, how they linger, how they feel. And in each, she saw the same gap: the people who wanted that green the most were often the ones least able to get it, boxed out by cost, by square footage, by buildings never built to hold a garden. That mismatch became the question Ovata exists to answer.

Outside the studio, she's easy to find - usually on a trail. Saturday mornings belong to Marin Headlands; on weekdays, she runs the Embarcadero, tracing the edge of the city she calls home. Lately, woodworking has become her newest obsession: a second set of tools for the same instinct that drives her work — to build something functional, precise, and made by hand.
